Pastor’s Desk 25th October 2020

Posted 27th October 2020 in Pastor's Desk

On behalf of the priests and the parish teams, we wish you every blessing as we enter another period of Lockdown. We hope everyone is coping and keeping safe.

The year is flying by and November is almost upon us. November is traditionally the month when we remember our dead – members of our own family, our neighbours, and friends who have gone before us.

1. On Monday the 2nd of November there will be a special Mass of Remembrance in each of the four parishes, St. Benedict’s, St. Monica’s, Holy Trinity and St. Paul’s. The Mass in each parish will be offered for the repose of the souls of parishioners from each parish who died during the year. The Masses of Remembrance will be at 7.00 pm in all the four Parishes. Where possible, the families of the people who died during the year are being contacted about the Masses of Remembrance.

2. During Lockdown, on Monday mornings St. Monica’s, and on Tuesday mornings St. Benedict’s, will remain open for an hour after the 10:00 Mass. This is to give people an opportunity to come to the churches to pray for a few minutes. We would ask you to wipe down the seats before you go. It is also an opportunity for people to collect and fill in the November Dead List. Masses will be offered during November for all those who names are on the lists. The envelope will be available in the Church porches.

3. Finally, some people were asking how they can continue donating their usual contributions to the various Church collections. Envelopes for the different collections will be available in the Church porches. Please feel free to take one home with you and if you wish, you can return it the following Monday or Tuesday. You can also contribute to the collections online using the Donate buttons on the website.

Once again can we wish you well during these difficult times. We remember those who are sick, in hospitals, at home or in nursing homes and health facilities. We remember and we pray for those who care for the sick and we pray for a speedy discovery of an effective vaccine and let us pray for one another.

God bless you all and keep safe.

Fr. Paddy Boyle
