First Holy Communion and Confirmation 2021

Posted 16th February 2021 in Announcements

A message from Archbishop Dermot Farrell

Please find below the link to a recorded message by Archbishop Dermot Farrell to the parents of children due to receive the sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation this year.

It expresses to them and to parish communities the broad approach which is being taken: there is no pressure to celebrate the sacraments by any given deadline; we should use this time of uncertainty to support families to nurture their children as they journey towards the sacraments whenever they can be safely celebrated; and we are creating supports and resources for parishes to draw on in their accompaniment of families.

Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes

Posted 7th February 2021 in Announcements

Lourdes GrottoThursday the 11th of February is the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, normally the World Day of the Sick. This year the prayer below might be said on the days leading up to Our Lady’s Feast.

Mary, Our Lady of Lourdes,
you appeared at the grotto of Massabielle to Bernadette.
You brought her the radiant light of your smile,
the gentle brightness of your presence,
Day by day you conversed, one person to another.
We, too, come before you, and we humbly pray,
May those who doubt, discover the joy of trust.
May those who despair, sense your loving presence.
Mary, Our Lady of Lourdes,
you said to Bernadette,
“I am the Immaculate Conception”
We pray for sinners. Show them the way of life and truth.
May we discover the joy of God’s forgiveness in our lives
Instil in us a desire for childlike innocence and trust.
You gave birth to Jesus, our Saviour and our brother,
look tenderly on our beautiful but troubled world.
Guide us to the One who is the Source of all hope,
Jesus, your Son, the way, the truth and the life,
Who teaches us to call God Father. Amen.

Our Lady of Lourdes – pray for us.

St. Bernadette – pray for us.
